Dayshift workshops for students: Designing a personal culture of work.

Why this is important:

Youth entering the workforce today will face a dramatically different professional landscape than previous generations. The transition from traditional office work to hybrid and fully remote environments is reshaping where we work, and how we work. Navigating this requires more than just adapting to an office setting and demands the ability to navigate multiple workspaces, from home offices to third spaces such as cafés and libraries, often blending work and personal life in new ways that we’re not prepared for.

Even experienced professionals are still navigating these rapid shifts, often by trial and error. By developing an awareness of their personal culture of work, students can gain critical skills in self-management, communication, and adaptability. It helps them transition into the professional workplace and become more aware of their personal culture of work in structured and flexible work environments.

Workshop overview:
This interactive session helps students develop self-awareness of their personal culture of work: how they work best in remote or hybrid environments. Using The Dayshift Model of Productivity, students will explore how personal, social, and environmental factors shape their work style and their ability to balance productivity and rest.

The goal is to help students find their own way in the workforce while also improving how they approach their studies. Gaining insights into how they work best, and how to build a sustainable, fulfilling work life that adapts as their career evolves.

📋 Session Description
In this session, students will explore:

✅ What a personal culture of work is and why it matters.

✅ How personal, social, and environmental factors shape work and well-being.

✅ Strategies to navigate different work settings—home, office, and third spaces.

The workshop won’t be about rigid productivity hacks or a one-size-fits-all approach to remote work. Instead, this session is about reflection, self-awareness, and equipping students with tools to create a way of working that suits the individual.
